A note from the founder
I've worked in the commercial sign trade since 2018 — quoting channel letters, monument signs, and storefront builds for contractors, restaurants, and retail across LA County. That's also where I run my own signage company, Genius Signs & Lighting Corp. Between the day job and my own shop, I've walked into hundreds of contractor offices to quote work. I'd leave most of them thinking the same thing: this business is losing jobs to competitors whose only real advantage is a slightly better website.
I'd ask, "do you have a website?" The answer was almost always one of three: "No, we get everything from word of mouth." "My cousin built one in 2017." Or: "Yeah, but the guy who built it ghosted us."
Meanwhile, the national chains that pulled into the same neighborhoods had clean, fast sites that ranked on Google Maps, answered questions in the hero section, and booked calls at 2am.
That's not a design problem. It's a systems problem. Most contractors aren't getting outsold — they're getting out-infrastructured.
Why this studio exists
I founded CMMM Studios in April 2021 to be the option I kept wishing existed for the contractors I was already selling signs to. Agencies charge $5,000+ for a site and make you sit through four meetings to get it. Freelancers are cheaper but disappear mid-project. Template platforms work if you have thirty hours to spare — you don't.
